2023-2024 Post Season Podcast Recorded!

Exciting News Alert! We’ve just recorded our first Podcast episode, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to share it with all of you!

In Episode #1, we had the pleasure of chatting with Matt Russell, a native of Tucson, Arizona, and a professional hunting guide. Matt is not only the founder of Double Aero Guides Co., but he’s also ventured into the realm of outdoor gear, including Canine 1st Aid Kits for the Backcountry Quail Hunter!

Matt is the epitome of an Arizona outdoorsmen, and his knowledge of quail hunting in AZ is unparalleled. He’s a true native with more miles on his boots than most people have on their trucks.

Seriously, this guy logged nearly 1000 miles this past season, with his dogs covering almost 2000 miles. That’s equivalent to traveling from Phoenix to:

  • Chicago, Illinois – Approximately 1,750 miles
  • Minneapolis, Minnesota – Approximately 1,600 miles
  • Kansas City, Missouri – Approximately 1,400 miles
  • Houston, Texas – Approximately 1,050 miles
  • San Antonio, Texas – Approximately 1,050 miles
  • Memphis, Tennessee – Approximately 1,500 miles
  • Nashville, Tennessee – Approximately 1,600 miles
  • Indianapolis, Indiana – Approximately 1,750 miles
  • Oklahoma City, Oklahoma – Approximately 1,100 miles
  • St. Louis, Missouri – Approximately 1,500 miles

These cities are within the range of 1,500 to 2,000 miles from Phoenix, Arizona, which is the amount of ground Matt typically covers in a season with his dogs.

In this episode, you’ll hear fascinating stories and statistics from this past season, including Covey sizes within each species and more! Plus, we’ll discuss outdoor gear reviews, such as Marsupial’s Upland Game Vests, and Matt’s new 1st Aid Kit for Canines.

And let’s not forget about the valuable insights from Nate Istrate, a new quail hunter and bird dog owner who also happens to be the producer of the Podcast. Nate will be asking frequently asked questions that every beginner quail hunter should know!

We’re gearing up for many more exciting episodes to come, aiming for a bi-monthly release schedule if all goes well! Expect to hear from experts in the field and all things related to Quail Hunting in Arizona! But for now, we’ll be providing some basic questions for new quail hunters in each episode, hoping to educate and encourage the next generation of quail hunters. We want to foster a candid culture where newbies can ask anything, so lean in, subscribe, and let’s learn together!

Traditionally, hunting skills were passed down from fathers and uncles to their sons or daughters. But with the rise of DIY Hunters and self-starters, there’s an increased need for organizations like ours to help newcomers get into this way of life that’s more than just a sport.

So here’s to wrapping up our first episode! Stay tuned for its release on a social platform near you, especially Instagram!

Until then, remember to Get Outside!
