What’s Happening Now – October 2012 #2

Another hot October with the exception of one small cool down for a couple days. Have been hearing about a lot of snake / bird dog encounters which is just another reason for a later opening day. So far the reports have been a bit sketchy, although the best reports seem to be coming out of the Region III area (Kingman), as well as some pretty good reports from the southeast corner of the state, primarily on Scaled quail. Haven’t heard anything great coming out of the central part of Arizona, but some of that country back over by the Aguila area seems to have had an OK hatch. Overall, no spectacular reports, but it does look to be a somewhat better season than last year. Should know a lot more in about 3 weeks – stay tuned.

Another reminder – join the Southern Arizona Quail Forever Chapter – www.southernarizonaquailforever.com. If bird hunters have any kind of a say with future developments in quail hunting, we need a strong voice and this is one way to achieve that.
