What’s Happening Now – November 2013 #2
A huge winter storm came through covering all of Arizona during the third week of November, providing a satisfying drink for the desert. These are the kind of rains that will be very beneficial for Scaled and Gambel’s quail. Some flooding developed over several areas of the desert with 3+ inches of rain, while many other areas experienced a steady, soaking rain.
The last update a few weeks ago mentioned not hearing much about a Scaled quail hatch in the southeast portion of the state, but have now had reports that the areas of the state holding Scaled quail, did have a good hatch – including the southeast, and especially where there were carryover birds from last winter.
Good hunting and enjoy being out there on the desert with a hatch we haven’t seen the last few years!
