What’s Happening Now – May 2012
As far as I’m concerned, some pretty exciting stuff is going on this last part of April, first of May. Though the desert could not be described as in “good” condition, it is encouraging that it isn’t nearly as dry as it was at this time last year and the conditions look better this year than this time last year as well. Some hatches have occurred as early as the first of April, and it’s been a long time since we’ve seen that – so as of this report, it is appearing that we’ve had a fairly productive hatch. Time will tell as far as survival rates of the young birds, but so far, what has taken place here in the month of April has been very positive. The moisture we did receive in April over most of the northern part of the state has continued to keep the desert in fair shape.
